Maxeda DIY Group is a leading DIY retailer operating 334 stores across the Benelux with more than 6,400 employees.
Maxeda operates three DIY formats: Praxis in the Netherlands (184 stores), Brico in Belgium and Luxembourg (136 stores) and BricoPlanit in Belgium (12 stores). Most stores are between 3,000 and 5,000 square meters in size.

1973
Opening of the first Brico store in Schoten (Antwerp).
1978
Praxis opens its first store in Venlo in 1978 as a Maxis brand.
1992
Praxis acquires Houthandel Utrecht, including the Formido stores.
1995
A new Briko Depot store concept (hard discounter) opens this year.
1999
Praxis acquires Marktkauf, now Praxis Mega & Tuin. The merger with Vendex-KBB took place in the same year.
2002
Acquisition of the Brico group stores by Vendex-KBB, including the Leroy Merlin stores in Belgium (creation of the Vendex Do-It-Yourself group).
2004
Opening of the first store under the BricoPlanit banner in Kortrijk (Belgium).
2006
Vendex-KBB is renamed Maxeda. Praxis, Formido, Brico, and BricoPlanit are now part of the Maxeda DIY group.
2018
Creation of a new visual identity for Brico, BricoPlanit, and Praxis stores.
Opening of a BricoPlanit store in Ternat and a Praxis store in Maastricht under the new visual identity.
2019
Opening of a Brico store in Pommerloch under the new visual identity.
2020
The Praxis brand completes the integration of Formido stores. A total of 44 Formido stores have been integrated under the Praxis brand.
The Maxeda group now comprises 3 brands: Praxis, Brico, and BricoPlanit.
2023
Maxeda launches their marketplace as the first DIY retailer in the Benelux.
